About the Kew Philharmonic Chamber Choir
The Kew Philharmonic Society has existed for over 60 years. Originally it comprised both orchestra and choir, but the orchestra disbanded in 1997. Kew Phil now continues as a chamber choir, often unaccompanied, though sometimes in combination with various early instruments. The Kew Philharmonic Chamber Choir sings choral music from across the centuries, from the 15th to the 21st, with an emphasis on early repertoire.
The current director, Stephen Kerr, joined the choir in 2007. He is keen to encourage younger members and provide an avenue for those interested in singing early music. He is a professional pianist, organist and teacher and is also Director of Music at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Kew.
The Choir currently rehearses in Kew, on Monday nights. While many choir members have been singing with the Kew Philharmonic for a considerable period of time, we are always enthusiastic about welcoming and mentoring new young singers who have an interest in fine sacred and secular music.
